Troubleshooting

Common Social Scheduler errors and what to do about them.

How to read this page

Each issue below follows the same format: what it means, and how to fix it. If a post shows a red error message, check here first — the error message shown in Nabu is written to be specific and actionable, not a raw technical code.

A post shows "Failed" with a message about updating an app

This is a TikTok-specific message telling you the TikTok app on the connected creator's phone is out of date. TikTok requires a recent app version to accept posts sent through Nabu.

How to fix it: Update the TikTok app on the phone signed into that TikTok account, then select Retry on the failed post.

A post shows "Failed" with a message about reconnecting a channel

The stored connection for that channel has expired or been revoked — usually because of a password change or a security review on the platform's side.

How to fix it: Go to the Channels panel, disconnect that account, then reconnect it. Retry the failed post afterward.

Connecting a channel fails right away, before you even get to approve anything

This usually means the specific permission Nabu requested for that platform isn't available yet. Some permissions (particularly TikTok's direct-publish permission and LinkedIn's Company Page permission) are still pending review with the platform — see Connecting Channels for what's available today.

How to fix it: Nothing to do on your end — this resolves automatically once the pending platform review is approved.

A channel is stuck on "Waiting for first sync" with no analytics

See Analytics for why this happens per platform. In most cases it just means the first automatic sync hasn't run yet — try Sync insights manually.

I can't select certain post types for my upload

Post type options depend on what you uploaded. Story and Reel-style post types generally require a video or a single image — a multi-photo carousel won't offer every post type. Try re-selecting the channel after uploading the correct media type.

TikTok posted, but never made it live on the platform

This is expected for now, not a bug — see the TikTok section in Connecting Channels. Until TikTok approves direct publishing, every TikTok post lands in the creator's TikTok inbox as a draft, and the creator has to open the TikTok app and tap Post to finish sending it.

"Keep uploads under 500 MB"

Your file is over the 500 MB limit — this is the same ceiling for both photos and videos.

How to fix it: Compress or trim the file and try again. If you're regularly hitting this limit, get in touch through Getting Help.

"Only image and video files are supported"

You selected a file type the Social Scheduler doesn't handle (a PDF or a document, for example). Only image and video files can be uploaded.

How to fix it: Select a photo or video file instead.

"Upload failed. Check your connection and try again."

The file didn't make it to storage — usually a dropped or interrupted internet connection partway through the upload, more likely on a large video or a slow network.

How to fix it: Select Retry, or re-select the file. Your caption, channels, and other settings already entered in the composer are not lost.

"Upload didn't complete. Try again."

The upload started but never fully finished before the composer checked on it.

How to fix it: Select the file again and re-upload. If this keeps happening on the same file, try a smaller export of it.

General questions

A post is stuck on "Publishing" — is something wrong? Publishing usually takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes, especially for video. If a post has been stuck for longer than that, it's worth checking back in a few minutes before assuming something failed — failed posts are always shown with a clear "Failed" status and message, they don't stay silently stuck.

Where do I go if none of this resolves my issue? See Getting Help to open a support ticket. Include which channel and platform is affected, and the exact error message shown on the post.
