Creating and Scheduling Posts
How to build a post, customize it per channel, and schedule or publish it.
Starting a new post
From Schedule, select New post. This opens the composer.
- Upload your media. Drag and drop, or select a file. Photos and videos are both supported, up to 500 MB each — which post types are available later depends on whether you uploaded a photo or a video. You'll see a live progress bar while the file uploads.
- Select your channels. Click a channel's avatar tile to include it in the post, or use the + tile to connect a new channel first. Click a selected tile again to remove it from the post.
- Write your caption. This caption is shared across every selected channel by default. The preview strip above the caption box tells you whether you're editing the shared caption or a channel-specific override.
- Add hashtags. Type them directly in the caption, or save a group of hashtags you use often (see below) and insert the whole group at once.
Hashtag groups
If you reuse the same sets of hashtags — for example, one group for Botox posts and another for skincare posts — save them as a named group so you don't have to retype them. Once saved, insert a group into the caption with one click. Groups are saved in your browser, so they're specific to the device you created them on.
Customizing a channel
Each selected channel gets its own settings card below the caption. Click a channel's name in its card to make it the "active" one shown in the main caption editor.
Post type. Choose Feed, Reel, or Story for Instagram; Page post or Reel for Facebook; Short or Video for YouTube; Video or Photo for TikTok. Only types that make sense for your uploaded media are selectable — for example, Story and Reel need a video or a single image, not a multi-photo carousel.
Different caption for this channel. Turn this on to write a caption that only applies to this one channel, instead of using the shared caption.
Location (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube). Search for and tag a place.
Collaborators (Instagram, Facebook). Add usernames to tag as post collaborators.
First comment (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube). Write a comment that gets posted automatically right after the post goes live — useful for a long hashtag list you don't want cluttering the caption itself. Not available on TikTok or LinkedIn (see Connecting Channels).
YouTube-specific settings
- Privacy — Public, Unlisted, or Private.
- Made for kids — required by YouTube for all uploads.
- Category — YouTube's standard video category list.
- Playlist — add the video to one of your existing playlists.
- Tags — YouTube's own search-keyword tags, separate from hashtags in your caption.
TikTok-specific settings
- Who can view this post — Public, Friends, or Only me.
- Allow comments / duet / stitch — toggle each interaction on or off.
- AI-generated content and Commercial content — disclosure toggles required by TikTok's content policy.
These settings are saved with the post now, but only take effect once TikTok approves direct publishing (see Connecting Channels). Until then, the account owner sets these themselves when they finish posting from the TikTok app.
Saving channel defaults
If you find yourself setting the same location, collaborators, or first comment every time for a specific channel, select Save as default on that channel's card. New posts will start with those defaults already filled in — you can still change them for an individual post without affecting the saved default.
Publishing or scheduling
At the bottom of the composer, choose:
- Publish now — sends the post immediately to every selected channel.
- Schedule — pick a date and time. Nabu publishes automatically when that time arrives.
If you're scheduling for today, the time picker grays out and blocks any time that's already passed — you can only pick a time still ahead of you.
Use the small arrow next to the send button for more options, including create another (send this post, then immediately open a fresh composer) and Save draft (save your progress without scheduling or publishing).
A suggested posting-time hint appears near the schedule button, based on general benchmarks for the platform — it's a starting point, not a guarantee tailored to your specific audience.
The calendar and post list
The main Schedule page shows a calendar with your scheduled and published posts. Use the status filters — All, Scheduled, Drafts, Published, Failed, Canceled — to narrow down what you're looking at.
Each post card supports:
- Edit — reopens the composer with everything filled in as it was.
- Repurpose — turns this post's media and caption into the starting point for a brand-new post on another channel or format. See below.
- Cancel — stops a scheduled post from going out (it moves to Canceled, nothing is sent).
- Delete — removes the post entirely.
- Retry — for a failed post, tries publishing again after you've fixed whatever caused the failure. See Troubleshooting for common failure reasons.
Repurposing a post
Repurposing is the fastest way to get one piece of content working across every channel instead of rebuilding each version from scratch. Shot one Reel? Repurpose it into an Instagram Story, a TikTok video, and a YouTube Short — same upload, three new posts, each with its own schedule and settings.
Every post with media attached shows a Repurpose button (the loop icon) alongside Edit and Delete on its card — including posts that are still drafts, already scheduled, or already published. Repurposing never touches the original post; it only reads from it.
How it works:
- Select Repurpose on any post.
- Pick a channel — any connected channel, not just the ones already on this post.
- Pick a format to use the content as. Only formats that are actually compatible with the source media are selectable; anything not supported yet (like a multi-photo Carousel or a Facebook Story) is shown grayed out with the reason, instead of just being hidden.
- A new composer opens, prefilled with the original media and caption. If you picked the same platform as the source, its channel-specific settings (YouTube privacy and category, TikTok's interaction toggles, and so on) carry over too. A Repurposed from … label stays visible in the composer so you always know where the content started.
- Adjust anything you like — caption, settings, schedule time — then publish or schedule as normal. This always creates a new, independent post. The original is never modified, rescheduled, or removed.
Related versions. Once you've repurposed a post, every version — the original and every post repurposed from it — shows a Related versions row on its card, linking to all the others. Jump between every variant of one piece of content from any one of them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send different content to different channels in one post? Yes. Each channel's post type, caption (if you turn on the override), location, and collaborators are independent — you're not limited to sending the exact same thing everywhere.
What happens if I edit a post after it's already published? Published posts can be reviewed but not re-edited and re-sent through Nabu — you'd need to edit or delete the post directly on the platform itself.
Does deleting a post in Nabu remove it from the platform too? No. Deleting a post in Nabu only removes it from your Nabu schedule. If it already published, it stays live on the platform until you remove it there directly.
Does repurposing change or reschedule the original post? No, never. Repurposing only reads the original's media and caption to prefill a new post — the original keeps its own status, schedule, and settings exactly as they were.
Can I repurpose a post that's already published? Yes. Repurposing works on drafts, scheduled, failed, and already-published posts alike — the only requirement is that the post has media attached.
