Financial Workspace Overview

An overview of the four financial dashboards in Nabu: what each one shows, the questions it answers, and how they work together off one data set.

What the Financial Workspace is

Once your setup is complete, Nabu unlocks four financial dashboards that work together to give you a complete picture of your business. This section covers each of those dashboards — what they show, what questions they answer, and how to use them.

Each dashboard pulls from the same underlying data: your appointment records, service costs, provider pay rates, and business overhead. The setup you completed earlier is what makes the numbers meaningful. If any part of setup is incomplete, those gaps will show up in the reports.

The four dashboards

Financials is where you see the top-line numbers: gross revenue, net revenue, cash received, and recognized income over any time period you choose. It also breaks down how payments came in — credit card, financing, packages, memberships, gift cards. If your first question is "how much did we make this month?", start here.

Profitability goes one layer deeper. Instead of just showing what came in, it shows what you actually kept after labor, supplies, equipment, and overhead. Every service on your menu gets a true net margin. Every provider gets a contribution analysis. This is where you find out which services are genuinely profitable — and which popular ones might actually be costing you money.

Cost Center shows the complete picture of where money goes. Payroll, fixed overhead, supplies, equipment, and marketing costs are all organized in one place. Use it to spot which cost category is growing faster than revenue, or to understand how much each visit needs to generate just to cover your fixed costs.

Forecasting looks ahead. It projects the next one to twelve months of revenue, profit and cash from your location's own completed months, with a range around the projection, lets you test changes to ticket, appointments, rebooking, utilization and marketing, checks whether your schedule can hold the result, and scores its own past forecasts. Break-even, and how many appointments cover your costs, are on Financials.

Setup completeness matters

All four dashboards depend on your setup being complete. Specifically:

  • Profitability needs your service costs (supplies, equipment) and provider pay rates
  • Cost Center needs your business costs and payroll configuration
  • Forecasting needs completed appointments and recognized revenue in the last three complete months; your revenue goal from Business Targets sizes its plan for next period

You can view the dashboards with partial setup, but incomplete setup means incomplete numbers. If something looks wrong or missing, the first place to check is the relevant section in Setup.

How to navigate between dashboards

Each dashboard is accessible from the left sidebar under Financial Workspace. All four dashboards share the same date range selector at the top of the page — set it once and it applies across all reports.
